AMF-Bruns developed the world’s first hydrogen-powered wheelchair accessible vehicle
The future of mobility is as yet undecided. So far, electric vehicles have been unable to meet the usual demands of a combustion engine; hence hydrogen-powered vehicles have become increasingly important in the marketplace.
Always with an eye on the future, AMF-Bruns has concentrated for a number of years on the subject of emission-free mobility. Since 2020, the company has been offering conversion solutions for electric vehicles.
In partnership with the Stellantis Motor Group, it has since been possible to develop innovative conversions for models in the HK0 range. These include the Citroën SpaceTourer, Fiat Scudo and Opel Zafira, as well as the Peugeot Traveller.
The wheelchair accessible conversion embodies a rear cut floor with a built-in ramp and provides room for up to seven passengers or five with space for a wheelchair. According to the manufacturer, the hydrogen-powered vehicle has a range of up to 400 km.
This is how the Germany-based conversion specialist has extended its range of Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEV) to include the hydrogen-powered vehicles listed and has hence taken the next step in the mobility transition.
On instructions from Stellantis, a first project for France, with an order for 200 vehicles in all, has been placed already. This order is for 50 shuttle buses and 150 vehicles with a rear cut floor for moving disabled persons.
Conversions are inspected and certified by the manufacturer and receive European Type Approval.
