AN ACCESSIBLE FORD TRANSIT CONNECT FOR A GLOBAL MARKET

Two leading mobility manufacturers enter into global collaboration to engineer an accessible Ford Transit Connect.

Tripod Mobility, the European innovator for wheelchair accessibility, has joined forces with BraunAbility, the North-American market leader. The two manufacturers have collaborated to create a wheelchair accessible Ford Transit Connect.

Tripod and Braun have designed an innovative concept that meets the standards and requirements of the European, North-American and other global markets. Braun and Tripod are a natural fit for an engineering collaboration. Tripod is an authorized Ford vehicle modifier, and noth companies are highly experienced innovators of vehicle solutions for wheelchair users.

“Ford`s Transit Connect is an example of a global vehicle platform, engineered to meet the requirements of customers around the world.” says Jim Probst, Director of Product Portfolio Management at BraunAbility. “We have followed Ford`s lead by partnering with Tripod to develop a conversion package that is fit for global markets.”

“We appreciate the opportunity to engage in a technical collaboration with BraunAbility,” says Hans Nieuwenhuis, Tripod`s Director of Sales and Marketing. “Both organizations draw on decades of engineering experience to create an accessible Transit Connect that meets and exceeds all regulatory requirements in Europe and the Americas.”

The all-new accessible Transit Connect concept was debuted on September 24, at REHACARE in Dusseldorf, Germany. This is the most important trade show worldwide for the rehabilitation, care and inclusion of people with physical disabilities in society.
