New Q'Straint products on show at the Mobility Roadshow

Q’Straint are to exhibit the QLK -150 and QLK 110 docking stations, the Quantum, the Double Inertia Occupant belt and the QRT wheelchair restraints at The Mobility Roadshow, June 25th – 27th, Donington Park

Q’STRAINT RECENTLY UPDATED ITS FAMILY OF DOCKING STATIONS WHICH NOW CONSIST OF THE QLK-150 AND THE QLK-110. BOTH DOCKING STATIONS WILL BE AT STAND TD02A

Q’STRAINT QLK-150 TESTED & APPROVED WITH SALSA M & R SUNRISE WHEELCHAIRS

The QLK-150 wheelchair docking system is the perfect solution for wheelchair passengers who drive their own vehicles or those who want the independence of quickly securing their own wheelchair using a single point system.

Two of the most common wheelchairs used within the NHS are the Salsa M and the Salsa R Sunrise wheelchairs. Q’Straint has designed brackets to fit these 2 wheelchairs and successfully dynamically tested them with the QLK-150. The testing has been approved by Sunrise Medical. These brackets are available directly from Qstraint

QLK-150

The QLK-150 is the next generation of docking system which brings together all of the latest technology in drive-from-wheelchair securement.

It encompasses all of the features and benefits of the QLK-110 plus many extras such as a removable cover. Key features of the QLK-150 include a slim and flexible dash control, multiple release points, flexible height options, generous tapered access channel, durability and intelligent built-in sleep mode so that when the user exits the QLK 150 automatically shuts down so as not to drain the vehicle battery.

The QLK-150 also boasts additional and extensive crash testing, having been successfully tested forwards and sideways and with wheelchair weights of up to 200Kg.

QLK-110

The QLK-110 is a single body construction made of high quality, heat-treated, anti-corrosive metal. Featuring an updated design including a flush top surface for increased bolt clearance, a tapered channel for improved entry, a reduced footprint and improved electronics system; the QLK-110 improves user experience and meets higher standards.

The flush top surface gives the wheelchair user an additional 4.8mm of clearance whilst the tapered entry channel and reduced footprint improves the customer’s entry by reducing the risk of obstructions.

Further to these benefits the QLK-110 has been dynamically crash tested for wheelchair weights of up to 150kg

Q’STRAINT IS ALSO SHOWCASING ITS NEW DOUBLE INERTIA OCCUPANT BELT & AL600 WHEELCHAIR RESTRAINTS

ON DISPLAY FOR THE FIRST TIME AT THE MOBILITY ROADSHOW.  STAND TD02A.

Together these two new offerings form a complete kit designed to specifically secure passengers and wheelchairs in accessible minibuses.

Q’Straint has expanded and enhanced its portfolio of securement systems with the launch of the double inertia occupant belt “DIR” and AL600 wheelchair restraints in October 2014. The Double Inertia Occupant restraint solution not only caters for 3 point occupant securement environments but also for cases where accessible minibuses do not have a 3rd point attachment location or cant rail in which to install a traditional 3rd point occupant belt. The 3rd point DIR attachment is adjustable and detachable therefore providing both convertors and users with greater flexibility

Thanks to the innovative engineering and extensive product testing of Q’Straint, the double inertia occupant restraint concept has been enhanced for optimum effectiveness in community transport vehicles prevalent throughout Europe and around the world. Offering increased performance, comfort and durability, the Q’Straint system includes a variety of unique and innovative features and benefits.

Heavy Duty Cover: The occupant belt housing reel has a durable metal cover providing extra protection against the bumps and scratches of hard everyday use.

Dual Vehicle Sensitive Retractors:  For maximum passenger safety, the retractors are designed to lock when subjected to any hard or fast pull and are also vehicle sensitive, locking in response to uncertain situations such as being on a significant slope or the instant deceleration forces are experienced.

Internal Floating Guide:  Providing greater comfort in securing wheelchair passengers, this unique device provides dirt ingress protection, keeping debris away from the retractor mechanisms and prevents twisting of the belts during transit.

Track Anchorage:  The double inertia restraint conveniently mounts directly onto a track fitting, maintaining a low profile height.

PLI Fitting: The Positive Locking Indicator (PLI) on the track fitting serves as a quick visual confirmation that the fitting is locked into the vehicle anchorage.

Colour-Coded Webbing: Blue shoulder webbing and black lap belt webbing help drivers and caregivers to visually verify whether their passengers are safely secured for transport.

Third-Point Shoulder Belt: An optional, detachable and adjustable shoulder belt for attachment to the third point is included for greater protection in case of impact where vehicle design and passenger conditions allow.

With its heavy duty performance in an ergonomic, passenger-friendly design, the Q’Straint Double Inertia Occupant Belt is the vehicle safety device that takes comfort and protection to a whole new level.

Also at The Mobility Roadshow - Q’STRAINT’s FULLY AUTOMATIC WHEELCHAIR SECUREMENT SYSTEM officially launched and ready for Sale

The Quantum is the transportation industry’s first of its kind designed to

ensure new levels of safety and independence for mobility passengers

In October 2013 the Quantum was showcased at its first major international show. It was very well received and won the European Coach and Bus Week innovation label Award. In quarter 2 this year Q’Straint’s Quantum was officially launched and is now available for sale. Systems are already in place across the USA and the UK is following suit. In early March the Quantum was successfully fitted for the first time in real life application in to a Wrightbus Gemini double decker at East Yorkshire Motor Services (EYMS).

“The Quantum ensures the highest level of passenger safety whilst also giving wheelchair users the independence to automatically self-secure without driver assistance. It provides ground breaking new levels of safety and accessibility and we are delighted to see the first UK installation on board an East Yorkshire Motor Services bus,” said Andy Cumming, Managing Director.

Q’Straint will continue to roll out the Quantum across the UK with the next one already on route to Lothian buses, scheduled to be fitted end of June. The Quantum is the transportation industry’s first fully automatic rear-facing wheelchair securement station designed for virtually any bus or rail car.

The revolutionary new product was developed by combining transportation insight, intelligent technology and a pioneering new approach to securement. After boarding a bus or rail car, Quantum allows wheelchair and scooter passengers to position their chair and by simply pushing

Q'Straint’s latest line of retractors capable of securing wheelchairs TO 200 Kilograms

WILL BE ON DISPLAY AT THE MOBILITY ROADSHOW.

Designed and dynamically sled tested to handle loads of up to 200kg and up to 150kg respectively, the QRT 550E and QRT 350E are built to safely secure today’s heaviest wheelchairs. Q’Straint’s QRT™ line of wheelchair and occupant securement systems are now offered in three distinct ranges.

QRT Series 5

The QRT 550E retractor utilizes an innovative double webbing loop and employs advanced material technologies with new energy management techniques to achieve the 200kg certification.  Prior to the QRT 550E, the only alternative retractor system able to achieve this maximum rating has been the use of four retractors on the rear of a wheelchair.  With just two 550E’s, securement is faster, space efficient and a more practical option.  Extensive dynamic sled testing has demonstrated that wheelchair excursions in the event of a collision are reduced by up to 50 percent as compared to the use of four rear retractors -- greatly enhancing passenger safety.

“Securing wheelchairs with the QRT 550E gives operators a safer securement in less time with fewer retractors,” said Eric Girardin, Q’Straint’s president. “Any time you can reduce the difficulty of the securement, you also lessen the chance for errors and injuries.”

QRT Series 3

The QRT 350E delivers a higher load capacity than any previous retractors, yet does so without a space or weight penalty.  The evolution of increasingly heavy wheelchairs and the recent introduction of wheelchairs with integrated lap belt systems mean that both the full mass of the chair and up to 60 percent of the occupant is transmitted to the rear tie-downs.  The QRT 350E safely secures these integrated lap belt (WC19) wheelchairs and is designed to accept these now increasingly common heavier load requirements in WAVs, Community Transport, and other public and private vehicles.

QRT Series 1

The 1 Series retractors include the popular QRT Max, Deluxe and Standard configurations.  Each has been tested on the sled and on the street with millions of miles logged safely and securely.  The contemporary new cover design on the Max and Deluxe models is both attractive and functional.  All three models provide a full range of options for simple, safe and effective securement of wheelchairs in community transport vehicles, mini-van, rail, coach, bus and WAVs.
